Too much sleep could actually be bad in several ways. Spending almost all of your time in sleeping in your bed can cause serious health problems, especially if it is done for prolonged periods of time. In order to maintain a healthy sleep pattern, you will need to understand why too much sleep is very dangerous to your health.

According to the NSF or the National Sleep Foundation, the average adult needs to sleep for only 7 to 9 hours per night, and of course the younger we are, the more we need to sleep, but as we grow older we should be spending more of our time awake.


Here are the possible side effects of too much sleep that you must know:


Dementia


Researchers found that a person who slept for more than nine hours each night were six times more likely to develop dementia than those who slept for less than nine hours at night.


Alzheimer's Disease


Too much sleep has also been linked to increased risk of having Alzheimer's disease.


Everyone needs a different amount of sleep that depends on genetic and environmental factors. Exercise or keep yourself busy is one of the best way to treat your hypersomnia.
