Look How This Girl's Leg Decays After Bitten by a Snake!

A+ A-

Not all snakes are venomous, but it does not mean that some of them are harmless. Though nonvenomous snakes do not have toxins in their body, they still can kill by squeezing their victim very tight. On the other hand, venomous snakes can kill you instantaneously the time the venom enters the victim's body.

There was once a case in Venezuela that is very different than what we usually know. A 13-year-old girl (unnamed) became immobilized after she was bitten by a snake of an unknown species. The bite made a cut to an artery in her leg, which led to a compartment syndrome. This prevented the blood to flow to the tissues, resulting in damage. Once damage becomes serious, the outcome can be a loss of body function or even death. The girl suffered injuries in her cells called necrosis. The affected cells prematurely dies after the girl was bitten. Because of the condition, her leg became wilted and decayed. Both traditional and modern medicines did not work to heal her leg. Sadly, her leg needed to be amputated because the condition was already severe and she might die due to poison.

"The whole lower leg is black. It's spreading up. Looking at the rest of her body, she's showing signs of muscle wastage from the poison. Her other leg is thin. It's likely she will die."

It seemed that the victim was not given immediate treatment the time she was bitten. Applying anti-venom treatment helps to control the spreading of the toxin. This should not be ignored and not wait for the time that it becomes more serious and untreated. Once a person was bitten by a snake, venomous or not, should be given much attention and action.
