This Solar-Powered Mall in Pampanga is the Largest Ever in the World!

People, nowadays, keep on looking for alternative source of energy. Aside from petroleum, which is the most common, there are various energy sources that come from nature. However, using petroleum may result in pollution if not used in a proper way that is why looking for other resources is rampant.

In the Philippines, one of the renewable energy sources that is getting popular is solar energy.  This is very convenient and considered environment-friendly because there are no harmful chemical reactions happen in the environment. The good thing is that, the country has a tropical weather that is a good source of solar energy.

There are lots of projects are now featured in various media, but this one is different. Can you imagine a mall that is powered only by solar panels?

In 2016, Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) inaugurated its 2.55-megawatt solar power plant on top of Robinsons Starmills in San Fernando, Pampanga. It is the largest ever built in the world as of now. According to Frederick Go, president of RLC, building these solar panels aims to eliminate carbon footprints on the environment as the company's part of helping the environment. In fact, estimated amount of 2.25 million kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions can be eliminated in nearby areas.

Sounds clean and green, right? Robinsons Starmill is just one of the various projects of RLC when it comes to sustaining a cleaner and greener environment. Their mission is not only to provide jobs for the people, but also providing a healthy environment.
